Before requesting a junk removal pickup, decide exactly which items you want removed. A clear list helps you check your booking details and keeps belongings you want to save out of the pickup.
Separate the items you are keeping
Walk through each room or storage area involved. Put important papers, keys, chargers and personal belongings somewhere separate. Check drawers and pockets before adding a piece of furniture to your removal list.
If other people share the home, confirm which items they want to keep. Mark the pickup items clearly so there is less room for confusion.
Check the pickup scope
Read What We Take before including an unfamiliar item. JunkGurus does not accept any single item over 500 pounds. If you do not know an item’s weight or whether it is accepted, resolve that question before scheduling.
Make a short list of the items and their locations. For several areas of the home, label the list by room. Compare it with the items you show when getting started in the app.
Plan safe access
Look at the route between the pickup items and the exit. Note stairs, narrow halls, locked gates and any building access rules. Clear loose objects from walkways when you can do so safely.
Follow the instructions for your booking about where items should be located. You do not need to drag heavy furniture outside based on an assumption. Leave heavy or awkward pieces in a safe position until the pickup plan is clear.
Review before scheduling
Have the item list, pickup location and any relevant access information ready. In the JunkGurus app, the customer flow is Take a picture, Get a price, Schedule. Review the details shown before confirming your booking.
A final check
Before pickup, make sure the items match the agreed scope and that your keep pile is separate. Keep children and pets away from the work area. For furniture-specific preparation, use our Furniture Removal Photos and Access Checklist.
